Chetan Naik

Girish is the founder Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Rajasthan Venture Capital Fund (RVCF). He has over 35 years of work experience, including 20 years in Project Finance and 14 years in Venture Capital finance primarily in the SME sector. Harish Mehta

Harish has 30 years of cumulative experience in the Indian Computer Industry and was one of the Chief Architects for realizing the Hinditron – Digital Joint Venture in India.

Harish was the first President of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) – Mumbai. He was the founder member of NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Services Companies), former Chairman and member of the Executive Council since 1987. He is also a Trustee of NASSCOM Foundation and served as a Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Onward Novell Software (I) Ltd (1993-2005). A 50:50 JV between Onward Group and Novell, Inc.

Harish is an Electrical Engineer from College of Engineering, Pune and holds a Masters in Computer Science (EE) from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, NY, USA. He was honored with life Time Achievement Award for HR Excellence by Deccan Herald in 2004.

Harkesh Mittal

Shri Mittal has been instrumental in involving the private sector – both national and international- in the task of innovation and entrepreneurship development in India. Companies like Intel, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Texas Instruments, Tata Trust, Alsthom, The Economic Times, etc. have now been involved in this task and quite many of them are making matching contribution and are bringing world class technology commercialization knowledge to India. He was an international expert for UNDP on business incubation. He has represented India at various international forums on innovation, entrepreneurship, incubation etc. He was a member of the Global Agenda Council of World Economic Forum (WEF) on Entrepreneurship during 2011-2014. He is the Member of the investment committee of India Aspiration Fund a Rs. 10,000 Crore fund set up by the Ministry of Finance and being Managed by SIDBI. Padmaja Ruparel
Indian Angel Network (IAN)

Padmaja Ruparel is an Angel Investor and President of Indian Angel Network (IAN), India’s first and now one of Asia’s largest group of business angels, comprising the who’s who of successful entrepreneurs and dynamic CEOs from India and overseas. She built IAN from inception, taking it within 7years to over 350 investors across 10 countries and a portfolio of 100+ companies across multiple sectors in 7 countries. She has now operationalized IAN’s international operations in London – making it the only angel group in the world to set up operations outside of its home country.

Padmaja established a unique model of an incubator, in partnership with the Indian Government which leverages 400 mentors to provide mentoring & domain expertise to around 50 young fledgling incubatee companies. Till date, many of these have exited raising seed money within 6 months of incubation. She is also a member of the Governing Council of EM3 Services, a nation building venture to bring a paradigm shift in the Indian agricultural sector. Padmaja has been a key player in the Indian entrepreneurial eco system over the last 25 years. She set up and operationalized the TiE Delhi chapter, setting it on a sound footing for it to be rated as number one amongst 60 chapters around the world, for the last 4 years. She played a key role as Executive Director in building the Indian Venture Capital Association, India’s oldest and largest association of VC and PE firms. In addition she helped the creation of Lankan Angel Network in Sri Lanka. She contributed actively in the Planning Commission’s Committee on “Angel & Early Stage Investing in India” which resulted in a seminal report: “Creating a Vibrant Entrepreneurial Eco system in India”. In her corporate avatar at Xansa India, an US$800mn company listed on LSE (before being acquired by Steria), she managed the recruitment operations, built and successfully executed an innovative brand and communication strategy and led the corporate social responsibility initiative which engaged the government, employees as well as the clients. She was a key member of the corporate strategy and M&A team as the company went public, formed joint ventures and the final acquisition of the Indian company.

Padmaja was deeply involved in India’s path-breaking impact investing initiative – the “India Inclusive Innovation Fund”, a US$1 bn. dollar fund which focuses on the Base of the Economic Pyramid. Anshu Kapoor

Smita Aggarwal

Smita leads strategy and investments for Omidyar Network’s Financial Services initiative in India.

Smita has over 25 years of experience in banking and finance. Before joining Omidyar Network, Smita served as Senior Program Director at CAFRAL, a global think tank promoted by the Reserve Bank of India, where she led the industry and policy dialogues on strategy, risk management, digital banking, financial inclusion, and governance for bank CEOs and directors. Prior to her time at CAFRAL, Smita was business head, Gramshakti at Fullerton India Credit Company, a Temasek subsidiary, where she set up a business model to offer loans and other third party products to rural customers.

She began her career with ICICI Bank, where she held various leadership positions, including head of rural and agricultural insurance business, head of strategy, head of e-channels, head of CRM, and head of international resources. She was instrumental in introducing innovative products and channels to improve convenience and access for customers. Smita has also taught microfinance courses as a visiting faculty member at NMIMS School of Business Management.

Smita volunteers with the Indian Cancer Society and spearheads one of the largest pan-India projects for providing financial grants for treatment of poor cancer patients. She was also instrumental in conceptualizing and launching the first debt mutual fund for supporting cancer cures.

A Chartered Accountant, Smita graduated from Sydenham College in Mumbai, and attended executive programs at Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan School of Management.


Arihant Patni

Arihant is the Managing Director of Patni Financial Advisors (PFA), which is an advisory company he founded in 2004. Under his leadership, the firm is in charge of managing the deployment of assets across listed securities, debt instruments, real estate and other alternate assets in India, UK and the US. Additionally, after the sale of Patni Computers in 2011, Arihant has been an active venture capitalist, and was directly engaged in three sector focused VC funds. Vamesh Chovatia

Vamesh joined Tata Capital in March 2015 as Partner of the Tata Capital Healthcare Fund. He has over 25+ years of experience in investment banking and private equity advisory. His experience spans managing investments and advising businesses across multiple industries. Vamesh co-leads the healthcare fund team and will be actively involved in managing the full lifecycle of new fundraising, investing, portfolio management and divestments.

Prior to joining Tata Capital, Vamesh was the Managing Director of New Enterprise Associates (India) Pvt. Ltd. (NEA), an affiliate of US-based venture capital firm and he was focused on investing in Pharma and LifeSciences sectors where he led investments in a company engaged in manufacturing of radiation therapy equipment and a company developing digital medical education courseware.

Deepak Natraj

Deepak manages Aarin Capital (www.aarincapital.com), which has made several large & mid-size, and seed investments. Aarin’s investments include focused molecular research, implantable & external medical devices, mobile-medicine, gene testing, test-prep, software products, eCommerce and tablet based platform learning in India & overseas, travel and consumer facing businesses. Deepak works closely with founders to help and facilitate them create value and grow their businesses from idea through exit. He has also ideated, structured, set-up & raised capital for several of the funds anchored by Aarin and for co-investments. He is on the board and investment committees of some of the investee companies and funds.

From early 2008 to early 2010, Deepak was CFO at a Sequoia funded tech start-up, later sold to a leading mid-tier Indian outsourcer. He deployed over US$100m in various initiatives, including cross-border acquisitions and the incubation of the in-house consulting business. Aarin is a proprietary fund co-founded by Dr Ranjan Pai (Manipal Education & Medical Group), and Mohandas Pai (Chief Advisor to the Manipal Group, Board Member, also formerly of Infosys). Deepak set up the fund and has been with it since. An avid sportsman, Seemant never misses his game of tennis. He has widely travelled internationally and has actively contributed to community services through Rotary International. Seemant is a post graduate from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad and an engineer from the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. He currently lives in Hyderabad, India with his family.


B. V. R. Mohan Reddy

Mohan started his career with the DCM group (Shiram Refrigeration), where he contributed to the assembly line operations in Diesel Engine production. After leaving the DCM group, he worked with MICO Bosch and then HCL, before joining OMC computers as Managing Director.

Mohan founded Cyient as Infotech Enterprises in 1991, and he currently serves as the Executive Chairman of the company. He has also been a member of the NASSCOM Executive Council since 2003 and served as the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), southern region (2008-2009). He also served as the Chairman of NASSCOM for 2014–2015.

He is associated with councils of various academic and industry forums and has led several initiatives to help industrial companies evolve and grow. Reddy also serves as Chairman, Board of Governors of IIT, Hyderabad; member on the Board of NIIT University, Neemrana; and member of Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at IIIT Hyderabad.

Mohan holds a graduate degree in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering, Kakinada, India, and postgraduate degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and the University of Michigan. He has also received an honorary Ph.D. degree from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad; an honorary D. Sc. from the Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam; and Doctor of Science Honoris Causa from KL University (Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation), Vaddesaram.

Ravi Gururaj is Founder/CEO of QikPod where he is building a nationwide network of parcel delivery lockers in partnership with top tier investors and strategic industry partners. Ravi is an entrepreneur / founder of 6 technology ventures, 2 which exited to public NASDAQ companies, an angel investor, a mentor to numerous entrepreneurs, technology executive, and ecosystem evangelist.


Over his 26-year career, Ravi has held wide ranging roles including promoting an STPI unit exporting software components out of India, product management at Intel, served as Managing Director of the Trilogy Software’s India engineering center, and founded multiple software product ventures two of which were acquired by public NASDAQ listed US technology companies.


Ravi is a member of the NASSCOM Executive Council, chairs the NASSCOM Product Council and co-hosts the NASSCOM Product Conclave. He is Charter Member of TiE Bangalore where he launched the Cloud SIG, is Co-Chair/Founder of the Penn & Wharton Club of Bangalore, and is Co-Founder & Co-Chair of HBS Alumni Angels India chapter.


VMLogix, which he founded in 2004 was venture funded by Bain Capital Ventures and acquired by Citrix in 2010. At Citrix, Ravi served as Vice President Products in the Cloud Platforms group, was a member of the global Citrix CTO Office, represented the Citrix Startup Accelerator and was on the India R&D leadership team.


Ravi received his MBA with high distinction as a Baker Scholar from Harvard Business School. He graduated with honors as Benjamin Franklin Scholar from the University of Pennsylvania in the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology receiving a B.S.E. in Computer Science & Engineering from the Moore School and a B.Sc. in Finance from the Wharton School. Denny Kurien

Denny Kurien has close to 25 years of experience in media, investing and entrepreneurship. Before taking up this role, Denny was Member Director at Keiretsu Forum Chennai and Singapore, enlisting the network’s early members there and helping launch the first India chapter. Prior to that, Denny has been a business journalist in India and Southeast Asia for two decades, managing teams across geographies and cultures for multiple media organizations such as Financial Express, Business Standard, Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal.


After 16 years with Dow Jones/Wall Street Journal in various capacities, including as Managing Editor (Commodities) for Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore, Denny returned to India in late 2012 to become a full-time entrepreneur through two separate ventures, one involved in retail and the other in financial services. He continues to serve on the boards of both the companies.


While in Chennai, Denny was also an Adjunct Faculty at the Asian College of Journalism.

She co-founded Seedfund in 2006 and has raised money in two funds from marquee institutions. The 32 diverse investments include Redbus (online bus ticketing), Edusports (sports in schools), Jeeves (post sales service for appliances), Axisrooms (organizing hotel inventory) among others. Seedfund’s exit from Redbus – a company which she identified as an early investment and served on the board – to a strategic investor, was among the top three venture capital deals of the last decade for return on capital invested.

Prior to Seedfund, she was a partner at Infinity Ventures, a pioneer in Indian early stage investing whose exits include Indiagames and India Bulls (listing in India). Before that she held the P&L responsibility for the southern operations of Investment bank Lazard India. Prior to Lazard she worked in Minneapolis with the strategy group at Northwest Airlines (now Delta). Her early experience prior to business school was in consumer market research in India.
